Sydney, one of the most famous non-capital cities of the world! It has beaches, it has mountains, it has culture and it has excitement. Sydney is a fantastic space to explore with kids, with so much to do it was a struggle to come up with only 10 things to see and do. All prices quoted are in Australian Dollars (approx 1.3 USD to 1 AUD).

EDUCATIONAL PLACES

Sydney is an absolute treasure trove of places to visit for educational purposes.

1. Australia Museum

One of the largest museums in Sydney, the Australia Museum has a number of interactive displays that will appeal young and old. Make sure you visit the mandatory dinosaurs and look into their tourist packages too. Admission is free up until the age of 15 for the main museum and adults pay $15. For any additional exhibits prices may vary.

2. Taronga Zoo

Go on this wildlife experience to learn about the special animals that make Australia. There is loads to see and do at Taronga, from shows and talks, to animal encounters. Your little ones can even become a keeper for the day! Don't forget to also check out the Wild Ropes course, bound to get the adrenalin pumping! Although on the more pricier side of things, costing $46 an adult for entry and kids aged 4-15 costing $26, Taronga Zoo is a not-for profit enterprise and you know that all the money gained at the zoo will go straight into the upkeep of the zoo and the care of the animals.

3. Sydney Chocolate School

If you or your child are chocoholics, then perhaps an afternoon at the Sydney Chocolate School is exactly what you need. You can choose what kind of chocolate you want to work with and can create beautiful artistic work and then… eat it! Prices start at $80 and a minimum group of 6 is needed, with no maximum.

Australia is one of the world's major thrillseekers paradise. If your kids fancy some daredevil play look no further!

4. Trees Adventure

Trees Adventure have 2 courses in NSW, one at the foothills of the Blue Mountains and one further south. There are a range of rope courses up high in the trees and the price allows you to try every single one of them during the 2 hour session. The session includes training and costs $48 for adults, $38 per child (8 - 17 years old) and $25 for kids (4 - 7 years old).

5. Sydney Tower Sky Walk

If you are not afraid of heights, why not try the Sydney Tower Sky Walk on a leisurely afternoon? Fantastic views of this amazing city during a 45 minute walk at the top of one of Sydney's iconic buildings costs $70 per adult and $49 per child (8 - 15 years old). Buy online for cheaper rates!

6. Centennial Park

Take a stroll and let the kids run at Centennial Park an enormous parkland right in the heart of Sydney. Take a picnic and enjoy the variety of birds and wildlife, or let the kids have some fun in the playgrounds while you sit by the lake. You can hire bicycles to ride around the park too! Admission is free.

7. Ettamogah Hotel Sports Bar

Kids here eat for free on Thursday nights AND they can climb a full scale climbing wall while you watch. The Ettamogah also hosts school holiday activities and Lego Parties!

8. The Newport

The kids play area at The Newport is well decked out with a bowling alley, ping pong tables and a basketball hoop. While you sit and eat you can see the kids playing around safely. Be careful, this place is so big the menu has a map of it on it!

9. Hotel Pennant HIlls

This place sounds like heaven for kids and for parents! The food and drink here is delicious and the kids indoor soft play area has one exit so it's easy to keep a track of comings and goings. The hotel has $15 pizzas on Thursdays and $15 deals on lunches on Mondays and Tuesdays!

10. The Sydney Opera House

No Sydney Top 10 is complete without a mention of the Sydney Opera House. Here you can find music, art and food! All under one, or four, roofs! Visit one of their many cafes, see a show, or simply have a walk here. It is fabulous!
